The domain you use for your web site can have a huge impact in the way that humans and search engine spiders perceive it and if you use it for your business then there’s no reason not to renew it. We at Philippine Web hosting provider is very keen in sending reminders to our clients to renew their domain names before it’s expiry date to avoid problems with your site and domain name to be in a redemption period and pay huge money just to redeem it.

When a domain expires, domain owners are given 40-day grace period to renew their domains. However, if the domain is not renewed, it will then enter the Redemption or restoration Period. This period usually lasts 30 days and the owner of the domain is able to renew anytime during that time frame, but needs to pay Redemption Renewal Fee plus the original domain renewal fee. If the Redemption Period is over and the domain is still not renewed, the domain will be listed as “Pending Delete” phase, which lasts a total of 5 days and it will later be released for general public registration however, if you wait for this approach I will tell you that it is very risky due to the following reasons:

All domains are registered on a first come first serve basis. Therefore, there is no guarantee that you can re-register your domain name after it is released for public registration. Also, a lot of internet firms often trace those easy-to-memorize domain names for re-sale purposes. Therefore, it is not easy to re-register an already-expired domain name after it is released for public registration. All domain names have a value of Page Rank (PR). Newly signed up domain names have a zero value of PR. Assuming the PR for your domain is originally at 4. Once your domain is expired and has been released for public registration, your domain will go back to  0 page rank and to re-gain the previous ranking you will be needing extra effort for the page rank to go high again.

As our Clients you should always renew your domains at least a few months before the expiration date to have a cushion for unforeseen event and please do not ignore our reminders. If you have concern regarding your domain kindly email us or call our office so we could assist you.

Competition for domain names is higher than ever, so if you purchase your domain with the intention that it will become the brand that you promote, then it is worth taking into account the specifics of the domain and not letting it lose or expire.
