Good news to all Linux fanatics, the famous and user-friendly open source Linux platform will be readily available soon on smartphones according to Linux OS Ubuntu. The code will be released initially in February as a file that can be installed on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone that will enable users to replace the Android operating system. The Ubuntu handheld computer such as smartphones will be available  later this month at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2013.

The new version of Ubuntu has been designed to work on last and current-generation Android handsets which share the Linux kernel.

“Your phone is more immersive, the screen is less cluttered, and you flow naturally from app to app with edge magic. The phone becomes a full PC and thin client when docked. Ubuntu delivers a magical phone that is faster to run, faster to use and fits perfectly into the Ubuntu family,” comment the developers via ubuntu.com.

“We are defining a new era of convergence in technology, with one unified operating system that underpins cloud computing, data centers, PCs and consumer electronics.” added Canonical founder Mark Shuttleworth.

Technology continue to grow everyone want something new especially now that mobile, tablet and PC’s are evolving, everyone seems to want everything in their fingertips and Ubuntu offers handset OEMs and mobile operators the ability to converge phone, PC and thin client into a single enterprise superphone.
