DropBox reached 100 million users
Dropbox the cloud online storage has reached 100 million users according to Drew Houston, one of the founders of the company, in an interview last Tuesday. Dropbox users continues to rise despite the stiff competition from among the technology juggernauts like Google, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft. The company said that users are quadrupled in the last year, gaining more from businesses using dropbox to their personal and professional files to the internet. One of the key benefits of dropbox based on my personal experience is that it will not only simplify your life managing your files but you can easily access your files without worrying of losing it and it works on a different platforms from android to mac to blackberry and more.
According to Mr. Houston the company was not worried about the competition. He said that “Those companies are busy trying to build something we had four years ago.” “We’re out front. We’re already out there and building smaller features and things. All those other companies have turf to protect, and they’re fighting a battle on a totally different front.”
Dropbox’s main goal, he said, was to offer people a service that lets them save any file from anywhere, regardless of “the logo on the back of the computer or device,” and access it from anywhere, whenever they need it. The New York Times.
In recent years dropbox also has security issues, sending spammy messages to users but that didn’t stop the company and added features to prevent future discrepancies and glitches on the platform was properly fix. Each day, Dropbox users store more than 1 billion items in its service, said Mr. Houston.
Now Dropbox is one of the hottest properties in silicon valley and raised $250 million in venture Capital, along with Facebook, Spotify, Airbnb and Square.
